Finished Basement

What's that you say? That doesn't look like it's finished? Okay, so it was finished. Four years to finish it and four hours (or much, much less) to rip it up. Needless to say we have been trying to take Elder Wirthlin's advice and laugh about it--what else can you do really?
This is the entrance to my laundry room and also the room where the water and more importantly MUD originated. Some something in our main sprinkler line that leads into the house cracked due to pressure or something like that and flooded our basement while we were at church last Sunday. NOT funny, I know, but there are people with worse trials than a messy house I guess so I'm trying to convince myself it's okay.
You probably can't tell what this is but it's a GIANT sink hole in my flower bed next to the offending sprinkler box. Where did all that dirt go you ask? Why in my basement of course!! Thank goodness for cleanup crews!! I have no idea how I would have cleaned all that up! It made me feel really sorry for flood victims who can't just call a cleanup crew and have them show up at their house 30 minutes later and take care of everything. Also, thank goodness for homeowners insurance--they don't cover everything, but they cover the most expensive things and for that I am grateful. It seems that this is my month for being tried to see if I can remain positive no matter how many inconvenient things happen. From kids barfing on the way to dance class, to nasty colds, to locking my keys in the car (stupid, I know, and all my fault, no kids to blame) to flooded basements and unexpected bills and, worst of all, to BYU getting smashed by TCU (yuck!!)--it's been a lovely month so far, things can only look up right? All I can say is BYU better win on Saturday or I quit!!! (wearing my BYU stuff that is, I can't quit anything else)

Girly Girls (and a man?)

Kevin's been around too many girls for way too long. He doesn't look like he wants rescuing though (thank goodness!)

Erin's been a little sick and feverish this week. She's trying to cut a few teeth and she hasn't felt like eating much. She does like snuggling which is not usual for her so I'll take what I can get when I can get it I guess.
Erin's a little claustrophobic in her seat so she eats with her foot on the table--ALWAYS. I've given up on leaving her socks on during meals because I'm sick of trying to get stains out of little three inch pieces of fabric! Nothing I do will get her to quit so I'll just have to teach her some manners when she's a little older--at least her feet are clean ;0)

The Fair

Most of the ride pictures just didn't turn out well. You can at least see Kaylee in this one

Kaylee and Audrey really wanted caramel apples. Kira held out for ice cream. Me? I wanted. . .

Just kidding!! Some of you know this about me, but I have a thing about meat still on the bone a.k.a: "bone chicken". It grosses me out!! Something about food still on the carcass. . . I shudder just thinking about it!! Anyway, Kevin made me pose for this picture because he thought it would be funny--that's a smoked turkey leg I'm gnawing on. It was pretty good actually--disgusting--but good you know?!

Okay, this isn't at the fair. My little bro Matt just got baptized so this is him with his nieces looking all mature and uncle-ish.

School Starts

So, I decided that last blog look was boring and I don't know how you people get such cute blogs but this look is better than the last one (and I love green!!).
Anyway, time for an update--I'm getting better see? The girls have started school now. I would say, "Yeah! Free time!" Except there were some problems with getting the classes we were hoping for and Kaylee ended up in morning Kindergarten and the twins are in an afternoon preschool. *Sigh* I guess I should just get used to the chauffeur deal from now on anyway--dance starts next week. It's good for the girls though and they are all so excited to have their days full of fun stuff so who am I to complain about it? We just got back from the Blackfoot fair so I'm beat and I have to clean the house for a little BYU football party tomorrow--go Cougars!!

Summer Fun

So, I shouldn't wait so long to update because then I have no idea where to start. We've been busy, but no busier than any of you I'm sure. I just don't know where all you people I love find the time to do this!! I loved seeing everyone at the class reunion but I feel like I didn't really get to talk to anyone--you know what I mean?! Too many people and not enough catching up. Oh well, I just need to keep in better contact with everyone, then I won't have so much catching up to do right?! I'll put some pictures of what we've been up to this summer. We went to Blanding, UT--Kevin's brother lives there. That's where most of these pictures are from.

My sister Mandy and her husband (who's from Blanding, small world) took us on this crazy hike in the middle of nowhere!! (you know we loved in Mandy ;0) to see some Native American ruins. The weeds were like this the whole way, the girls pretended they were tigers in the jungle.

This is at Natural Bridges. We did a little hike down to the bridge behind us. The others we braved from the roadside--hey, we're not as young and fit as we used to be!!

Erin was tired of being lugged around but she loves the outdoors so she put up with it pretty well.
The girls were amazing hikers. I was so proud of how little they complained, even when they were too tired to move any more!!

Happy 4th of July!!! I know, I know, it's August. Just bringing back some summer memories for you. ;0)

Thanks for reading you faithful few who still trust that I update this thing!! (Emily ;0)

And I Thought Email was hard. . .

So, I might start inviting people to read this now. I always thought I was fairly proficient at using computers and the internet and such but getting the blog started has been HARD. Laugh if you must but I can't figure anything out (not quickly at least and I'm all about doing it fast these days). We have a new computer now so I can't keep using the old one as an excuse to be anti-social and I really do want to keep up on all of my friends so it's nice to view your various creative blogs and feel like I still know you a little. Alright, here's to seeing if I can figure out how to mail everyone an invite to this humble blogspot of mine. . . .

Still Typing One-handed

So, not much has changed since I last updated. Some day I'll know I have time on my hands because I'll be able to sit down at the computer for longer than five minutes with out being interrupted. Erin is six months old now and she has never been what one would call a "mellow" baby but, sheesh! She must be teething or something!! It makes me really glad I had my other three so close together and that they are all somewhat self sufficient now. I don't know what I'd do if I had to be chasing around a two-year old (or two) right now. I realize now more than ever that my Heavenly Father blessed me with three very good babies to start with--Erin would not be a good twin. So you don't think too badly of her I'll post some cute pictures--the girl can turn on the charm when she wants too. (If I can figure out how to do that before she starts screaming to be played with)
